GAPA mission is simple. As our name – Global Arts and Politics Alliance – says, we aim to build a bridge between arts and politics. We do so by providing a unique platform and community for artists, activists and change-makers to meet.
There are many people active in the discipline of political science (academically, as activists or otherwise), at the same time there are all sorts of artists (cartoonists, film-makers, graffiti artists, animators, poets, drawers,…) who use their art as a means for political expression. In change-making for a more critical society, the combination of arts and politics is not unheard of!
Our mission is to create a network of artists, knowledge contributors, activists and all those interested in fostering a critical discourse, where everyone can exchange ideas, collaborate on projects, exhibit their art or ideas, find friends, and make political demands. GAPA seeks to provide a room for artistic expression and political innovation, and thereby seeks to foster art activism.
GAPA was founded according to three principles:
– Creativity
– Diversity
– Criticality
